MINI Blessing in Disguise

If you’ve hung around me long enough, I’ve definitely talked cars with you. I LOVE CARS! I have always been into the Honda/Import scene and longed to have an engine-swapped Civic to keep up with the big boys. Then reality sank in and I came to the realization that seeing the State Referee or obtaining Smog Certification would be near impossible without reverting the mods. I immediately shifted my train of thought from, ‘what engine will I swap’ to ‘what will I drive next?’

Fortunately/Unfortunately finances were holding me back from getting into a different car. I put my dreams on hold and accepted that my little Civic was a great car. Plus, I had invested quite a few hours of labor and money into it. I loved it.

Then on June 26th I was involved in a car collision with one other party. Because the case is still open I will not discuss further. What I can say is my 2003 Honda Civic Si was a total loss.

THE BLESSING IN DISGUISE…

I received a generous settlement for my vehicle and immediately started looking for my new-used car. My how the tables have turned… Just a month ago, I was on AutoTrader.com and Cars.com daily, dreaming of sitting behind the wheels of something faster. Now, I am basically being forced into a new car.

My list of dream cars were eliminated one by one, based on practicality. Now I just needed to find the right one.

MEET HERBERT

I found a 2004 MINI Cooper S MC40 on AutoTrader.com. Last Saturday, Bryan drove me down to Temecula and I purchased my new-used car, Herbert! (Herb for short)

After we left the dealer we drove down to Old Town Temecula and photowalked with Brian Auer. It was really cool meeting the guy behind Epic Edits and Feeling Negative. I thanked him for his Top 5 Films post, because I copied them for my B&W PHOTO101 Class.

On the drive home I really got to see what Herb’s little engine could do. Let’s just say right when I got home I ordered a ValentineOne Radar Detector:-)
